Company History
Principal developer and builder Richard D. Greene, was born into a prominent real estate developing and building family, 58 years ago in Torrance, CA. He grew up learning all about real estate building from his grandfather, father, and uncle; all of whom developed, built, and managed all their own various properties throughout Southern California. He attended the University Of Southern California, graduating in 1968 at the top of his class in his major of Real Estate. He was married in 1968 to his present wife of 36 years, and has two wonderful children, and one exceptional granddaughter. He and his wife still live in the home he built for his family in 1972.
Some of the highlights of his company's real estate developing and building career include the following projects: Starting in 1972, Richard Greene started by designing and overseeing the construction of his own personal luxury family home. This home was appraised by the County Real Estate Assessor as being one of the best constructed homes in the area, and received their highest rating for workmanship and quality.
In 1977, Mr. Greene set up his own real estate office here in Torrance, where he helped develop, build and manage all his family's real estate holdings. The City of Torrance has always had a special place in his heart, for this is where his grandfather, Sam Levy, who was known as "Mr. Torrance", started out his great developing and building career in 1918. Sam Levy was very influential in the early developmental years of Torrance, helping set up "The Little Company of Marry" Hospital, developing and building a permanent location for the local Torrance YWCA, with a local Torrance elementary school bestowing the name, "Sam Levy Elementary School", as well as many other accomplishments.
In 1985, Mr. Greene continued his knowledge and expertise in the field of real estate by developing and building from start to finish, an outstanding project named the "Plaza Del Amo Center", here in Torrance. It won a first place architectural award from the City Of Torrance, for its superb quality and workmanship, and its aesthetic physical beauty using building materials he hand picked himself. This same project also won a beautification and landscape award as well. Mr. Greene is a hands on developer, and never sacrifices quality, comfort, and safety for cost.
In 1990, Mr. Greene set out to develop yet another inspiring project in Torrance by developing the "The Santa Fe Center". This project also won an award and highest accolades for its quality construction and physical beauty. Again, he was personally involved in every aspect of this project from beginning to end.
By 1998, Mr. Greene's real estate developing career was in full swing. He now set his sights on developing his next project, "The Gramercy". After careful designing with his own personal architect, Mr. Greene developed and built from scratch this multi-unit town home complex. The City of Torrance acclaimed that this unique project was of such high quality and design, that it would serve as a model to spark similar projects in the area, helping revitalize one of the original neighborhoods of Torrance.
Now in 2004, Mr. Greene's latest and most exciting project to date, is the development and building of the innovative "Courtyard Villa Estates". This current development, a luxury senior condominium project, has everyone throughout the City already talking about it with great anticipation and excitement. Before this project ever started construction, Mr. Greene began to collaborate with his long time friend and highly regarded South Bay Architect, who specializes in unique custom homes, as well as a local Torrance real estate agent who specializes in homes for seniors. Together, they all researched today's seniors' desires and needs, and then put these concepts into each and every floor plan. The magnificent front elevation which resembles a Mediterranean Estate in Europe, and the Developer's well established reputation, for not only creating beautiful masterpieces, but also using the highest quality workmanship and building materials, will make this project a showstopper. Those who have the opportunity to purchase one of these extraordinary homes will own something like nothing else on the market today. All the senior units that have been previously available, have all been extremely small in size, "apartment like", and fairly plain. With "Courtyard Villa Estates", Mr. Greene's newest innovative concept was to give seniors a better choice in living conditions, in size, comfort and quality. He wanted to give seniors an opportunity to move into a senior environment, with the added comforts of security, no maintenance or yard to look after, and being able to just lock and go, while at the same time, still maintaining a home like atmosphere. These larger units will range from approx. 1,500 to 2,200 square feet, equaling nothing else on the market, while still maintaining aspects seniors look for, such as no stairs or steps in any homes, elevators, personal laundry in each home, and secured private entry and parking, and much more. (See included "Features" insert.) "Courtyard Villa Estates" completion date is scheduled for the latter part of 2005, and as of the time of this printing, interest is already way beyond expectations, with a waiting list for sales.
